Makoto "Sword Breaker" Haru Empty Makoto "Sword Breaker" Haru

Post by Makoto Haru Wed Aug 12, 2009 4:48 pm

Name: Makoto “Sword Breaker” Haru
Age: 28
Bloodline: Kirieme Clan Secret Techniques
Rank: A
Classification:
Village: Kumogakure no Sato
Alignment: Trying to be noble despite a villanous nature

Appearance: Makoto "Sword Breaker" Haru Darker-than-black-5

Personality: Rage. Some people are more familiar with this primal instinct then others, but few know it as well as Mokoto Isamu. It is easily the most influential force in the Sword Breaker’s life, but not the most obivous. Despite the large resevoir of anger that bids him to take action, his sense of pride, and more importantly his desire to be more then a simple ruffian, have allowed him to maintain an outer expression of serene alertness and at times, unbridled apathy. He wants to be a calm level headed tactician, but when push comes to shove he has more in common with a cunning predator then an enlightened strategist. Twenty Eight years experience have allowed him to get a handle on his anger. Even if he does get angery easily, at this point it will not only fail to illicit a response from him, but the anger won’t even be readily apparent on his features. Of course no one is perfect, and constantly surpressing his desire to lash out, or curse, or act anything less then calm and composed give him terrible headaches, or occasionally nausea.

That’s not to say barely restrained anger is all there is to Makoto. He loves wandering, finding new places, jumping from waterfalls, chasing people through the rain, all the fun activities he experienced when he was younger. Unfortunately he is afriad that by giving in to the exhiliration that joy and excitement illicits, he may weaken his emotional barriers to such an extent that he will get carried away. If that happens a violent outburst is almost inevitable. As such Makoto is of the opinion that reiging in all emotion is the safest way to maintain control. He has only being doing this for the past two years, so there is a chance he has only found a temporary reprieve.

History: The Kireme Clan, since its founding has been essential to the success and survival of the Kumogakure. Like many members of the Kireme Clan Makoto’s parents were farmers, rising with the sun and working until the night. It was a hard existence, but they were strong of back and constitution and had a fiery pride that suited a member of the Kireme Clan. They married young, and several months into the marriage Makoto’s mother gave birth to his older brother, Nagano. Nagano was much like his father, brave, level headed, and caring for nothing more then the advancement of his family name. He was truly a great member of the Kireme Clan.

He grew up strong, with an iron will that never wavered under the pressure of his Shinobi instructors. He wasn’t the best ninja, but at the age of fourteen he was already getting plenty attention even outside of the clans lands. More then any of his other accomplishments however, what he prided himself on most, was the way his little brother Makoto emmulated, and often times idolized him. Despite the traditional ways of the Kireme, Makoto was born a good nine years after his brother. It seemed like a miracle, but in the following decades the joy and elation that Makoto brought would be forgotten, replaced with far less complimentary adjectives.

Makoto’s early life was simple enough. With his brother already making a name for himself as a student with a great deal of potential, Makoto’s life was more or less set in stone. He began his training, and while many expected great things of him, his abilities with Ninjitsu were average at best. Even basic Ninjitsu techniques took him ages to learn, and the shame that the failure wrought drove him to become disenchanted with the life of a ninja. Noticing his little brothers growing anger and dissapointment Nagano decided to take a stronger role in his brothers training. Since Makoto had little talent for ninjitsu techniques Nagano opted to train him in Taijutsu. Despite finally getting his confidence back, his life would lead him to greater pastures then simple combat. During one of his training exercises, one of his instructors discovered the connection he posessed with the spirit world. Even by Mystic standards his talents were remarkable, and Makoto soon found himself learning the arts of herbal remedies and shamanism as opposed to weapons and warfare. Makoto wasn’t thrilled with having to abandon his dream of following in his brothers footsteps, but he didn’t truly have a choice in the matter. Becoming a Mystic was a great honor, one no Kireme Clansman could deny.

Training as a Mystic went surprisingly well for Makoto. He was highly intelligent considering his background and retained the information the instructors gave him easily. Herbs, roots, leafs and minerals, all revealed their hidden rejuvinative properties, and soon he was making poultices, bandages, potions and balms for his neighbors and family. None of that mattered to him however. His brother was getting stronger, faster, and more talented with every month. A truly enviable situation as far as Makoto was concerned. If there was any saving grace it was that his brother always had time for little Makoto. No training session so important, no adventure so great that he would put it before spending time with his younger brother. It was in this way that Makoto began to grow in martial talent. Never having been gifted in the use of ninjitsu his brother decided to add on to Makotos already exceptional Taijutsu with Kenjutsu. The problem then became finding a weapon that suited him. After initial success in fighting with knives and small axes the brothers hit a wall in their training. For some reason Maktoto simply had no luck with larger weapons. His intensity in combat would serve as a handicap as his weapons couldn’t hold up to the impacts. This became obvious after breaking two swords and a spear. It seemed Makoto needed something different. The Kireme Clan was well known for its weapon smiths, but their armor was created to the same quality. Instead of fighting with the typical weapons of the Kireme, Makoto was trained in using bracers, guantlets, shin guards and shoulder guards. Combined with his natural abilities in Taijutsu the style was incredibly effective in a straight fight. While not terrible with Kenjutsu, it was his hand to hand combat that he preffered.

By the age of twelve Makoto had become a fairly well known member of the clan. He was one of the youngest boys to ever begin training as a Mystic, and despite his short time on the earth he already had an extensive knowledge of the plantlife used for medicinal purposes, as well as a cursory knowledge of human anatomy, including the name and location of all 206 bones of the human body. His brother however had already surpassed his mentors expectations and was well on his way to becoming one of the elite members of the Black Ops of Kumogakure, and it was Makoto who was reaping the benefits since he had his brother as a personal tutor.

By the time Makoto had turned fourteen he had developed interests outside of healing and fighting, an interest that was arguably far more dangerous. Women. Or at least one woman in particular. Her name was Megumi Kobayashi and while she came from humble beginnings she was one of the prettiest girls in the village, and had a kind heart to match it. Megumi and Makoto had always been friendly, though he rarely had time to spend with her due to his training. At the time Makoto was so obsessed with becoming better, he failed to realize exactly how much her presence had meant to him. It was this neglect that allowed another suitor to come into the picture. The name was Akio Dai, the eigth son of a wealthy Kireme family, and a boy who was well known in the village for having “angelic features”. At first Makoto hardly noticed the decrease in visits from Megumi, but as the weeks passed he began to recognize how her absence was making him more and more uncomfortable. By the time Makoto decided to take action Megumi had more or less fallen head over heels for Akio.

At the age of fifteen, nearly two years after Makoto had sworn to win Megumi back, his brother was killed during a scouting mission. Supposedly it was a missing nin that slaughtered his brother and left his teammates critically wounded. Whatever the circumstances surrounding Nagano’s death, the effect it had on the fifteen year old Makoto was pronounced.

Obviously saddened and distraught over the incident Makoto’s already notoriously short temper became wire thin. Now, he had already been in a number of fights and shouting matches during his youth. He never allowed an insult, no matter how slight, to go unaccosted. Whether that meant yelling at the person until they backed down, or beating them till they submitted, Makoto had done it all before, just not so frequently as he did after his brothers demise. As you can imagine, this increased aggression did little to help his chances at winning the interest of Megumi.

Several weeks after his brothers demise, just a week or two after his burial, Makotot found himself at a crossroads in his life. As many of these life altering decisions tend to be, he didn’t recognize its importance until long after it had already been done. While returning home after a day of training with the Mystics he came across a group of teenagers about his age. Amoung them was Akio Dai. Words were said, and a fight ensued. Though the term fight was far from accurate. In thirty seconds the other boys accompanying Akio had to jump to his defense and pull an enraged Makotot off the beaten teenager. The damage however, had already been done, and from that day few people would refer to Akio as the boy with “angelic” features. By the time the fight between Makoto and the other five teenagers could be broken up two other boys required hospitalization, and Makoto had earned three broken ribs a concussion and two black eyes. Not bad considering the amount of damage he dished out.

The Mystics were quick to jump to the defense of one of their own, but in the typical sense. Instead of being brought back home to heal he was forced to remain in the buildings owned by the Mystics. His violent episode was said to be the result of an evil spirit who had manipulated him. The ferocity of the attack seemed to confirm that diagnosis to the common folk of the Kireme. Afterall, what fifteen year old could fight with such brutality, especially one trained to be a mystic as opposed to a ninja?

Eventually he was allowed to move about the village again, though people tended to avoid him as much as possible. The stigma of having been “posessed” never left him, and many people assumed he would lose control again. Magumi felt similarly. After hospitalizing Akio she not only refused to talk to him, but she pretended he didn’t exist at all. At first he was simply angry at the fact that the village had so little trust him, but as the days went on with little more then a word spoken to him outside of his training, he began distance himself with Kireme society. He began meeting with foriegners whenever he got the chance, and at the age of eighteen began practicing medical jutsu under a traveling medical ninja. For obvious reasons he couldn’t do this in his own village so he was forced to meet with her in a nearby town.

Every weekend he would travel to the town under the pretense of using his knowledge as a Mystic to help the towns people with whatever was ailing them at the time. While not really a lie, it served as an excellent excuse to work with the medic. He never learned of the womans origins, but he did learn a number of medical techniques. While technically not allowed to use medical jutsu according to Kireme law, Makoto had already begun studying whatever information he could on the art of using chakra to heal, for several months prior to his meeting the female ninja. As you can imagine, when he received actual hands on training, his abilities grew by leaps and bounds. Makoto spent so much time away from his village that rumors began to surface about his activities.

Makoto was nineteen when he was brought before the Elder Council under the suspicion of performing Medical Jutsu’s, and being under the influence of a malicious spirit. He didn’t deny the first charge, and that alone was enough to get the Elders talking about outcasting him. If it wasn’t for the intervention of several Mystics who testified on the behalf of his substantial talents he would likely have been forced out from his clan. As it was, he was cleared of all wrong doing, though forbidden to continuing studying medical jutsus. Regardless of the verdict, he was still strong encouraged to take a long vacation to clear his head, far away from the land of the Kireme.

With only a brief goodbye for his parents, Makoto gathered up a handful of his belongings and left the home he had known for the last nineteen years. Hurt, and enraged, over being forced away Makoto could never have guessed that in just five short years he would return to his home, his fiery temper forged into steely determination. He had more then a few adventures during his travels, met a number of ninjas from a variety of nations, helped those less fortunate, and true to his nature wound up in more then his fair share of bar brawls and high noon showdowns. His reputation was mixed, one town would remember him for helping the ill and infirm without charge, another for picking fights with people far lower in skill then himself. It wasn’t all success though, one several occasions he was beaten within an inch of his life, or robbed by particularly clever ninjas, but they all were just part of the experience, and he rarely made the same mistake twice.

At the age of twenty eight Makoto returned to his home town after meeting with an envoy. Apparently things had gotten bad enough that even a mystic with such a poor reputation was being recalled to active duty. Upon arriving in the village he was escorted straight to the Elders. A paranoid man might have a thought this was a set up, Makotot assumed it would be far worse. In the conversation to follow Makoto was given full access to the village once more, one the condition that he remain under the direct command of the Elders. Makoto reluctantly accepted.
