Ame-no-Nuhoko (天沼矛 "Heavenly Jewelled Spear")
Name of Weapon or Item: Ame-no-Nuhoko (天沼矛 "Heavenly Jeweled Spear")
Location: Kept within a scroll.
Description: While the blade is only as sharp as a regular blade, it is indestructible and cannot be manipulated in any way. Along with this, the blade is able to turn anything is touches to stone. The petrification works on anything tangible but works at a fair and understandable rate; slowly petrifying the object as long as it is touching it. Once the blade is removed from the surface, the petrification will end.
History: Ame-no-nuhoko (天沼矛 "heavenly jeweled spear"?) is the name given to the naginata in Japanese mythology used to raise the primordial land-mass, Onōgoro-shima, from the sea. According to the Kojiki, the gods Izanagi and Izanami were responsible for creating the first land. To help them do this, they were given a naginata decorated with jewels, named Ame-no-nuboko. The two deities then went to the bridge between heaven and earth, Ame-no-ukihashi ("floating bridge of heaven"), and churned the sea below with the naginata. When drops of salty water fell from the tip, they formed into the first island, Onōgoro-shima. Izanagi and Izanami then descended from the bridge of heaven and made their home on the island.
Filled with secrets, it is no surprise that Kiri held such a weapon in their mists. As a weapon of the gods, it has been kept in secret for longer than anyone can remember. Other than the legend behind it, no concrete evidence of it's origin has been found. It's mysteries have lay in the dark until now... With chaos on the brink of the world, the Mizukage has given permission to bestow the item on the one who she has deemed worthy.
