Renji vs Metsuki

Renji had been walking around aimlessly, losing seemingly all contacts with his old friends. He hadn't seen Kairi, or Kai in some time. The team had split up a while ago, so he went to the usual places in hopes of finding them. He checked the streets of kiri, and even the ramen bar. Noone was there. A normal boy would have been depressed over this, but he saw this as hide-and-seek. Although he had just now turned 16, becoming a chuunin and growing up, he still found games in situations that weren't usually "playful" situations. Or, a chance to make even more friends. He needed friends, for they would shape his ideas. He currently only had a few for himself, and he couldn't tell if they were corrupt or legit. His goals were to find out more about the world, and become intelligent along with his brother. Although his brother did it through books, Renji would achieve wise-ness through experience.

The last place he would check for the day, the sunsetting, leaving an orange glow on the ground which marked his time to come home, was the training grounds. He would run their quickly, for he would surely need to be home soon. When he got their, he didn't see his teamates, but something else that struck his eye. A man who looked to be in his mid-20's, doing something in the training fields. He had white hair, which Renji found to be very interesting. Although he did loook older then he was, Renji was quite determined to spar with this man. He couldn't find his friends anywhere, and he hadn't seen them for five years. A depressing thought, maybe they had moved away. Maybe they had died...

Renji extracted his sword from the slit on his kimono. Walking slowly to his target. Normally at his younger age, he would walk up to him, and yell "YOU WANNA FIGHT?!?". Humbly as he always was, and still is. But loud, to say the least. He pointed the tip of his blade towards the man. "Would you like to spar with me?"

Metsuki had been wandering around, the day just about over and he had nothing to do. The setting orange sun glowed in front of him, partially obscuring his view. At this time of day, the training areas were empty; everyone had gone home or moved on to something else. He looked at the beautiful colors of the sun, for a moment, the orange glare that covered everything gave the training area an eerie dream like quality. The cascade of color in the sky, reminded him of times long ago when he would spend hours watching the sunset from the trees of the forest behind his home.

Nights like this always brought back memories of his parents. It had been a little less than twenty years since he had seen them, yet still their faces shone perfectly in his mind. He’d been alive twenty-five years, there was only one sight more beautiful than the sunset, and she shall remain nameless.

His viewing of the landscape was interrupted by a boy, who by Metsuki’s estimation was scarcely older than 12, a sword on his hip, but no other obvious weapons. “Looks can be deceiving.” Metsuki thought. The boy walked up to Metsuki, pointing the blade toward him and asked. “Would you like to spar with me?" Metsuki eyed the boy’s sword disapprovingly. He had never been one for swordplay, especially when his fist could do the same amount of damage.

He looked down upon the ground, his eyes not on the boy. With the advent of a challenge, his mood changed considerably. Still looking at the ground he said, “You had best not point that blade at someone, unless your willing to use it” his tone serious. Jumping backward, putting another foot or two between the newcomer and himself, he looked up at the boy, a glint of excitement in his eye, “If it’s a fight you want, then it’s a fight you’ll get.” He said, moving his body into a fighting stance. Not the type to make the first move, he stood there ready to defend against the boy.

Renji readied his sword, and grinned. His body was already starting to heat up, his mind going off into something else then it was before. The words that the man had said.. “You had best not point that blade at someone, unless your willing to use it. If it’s a fight you want, then it’s a fight you’ll get.”. Those words would have intimidated him, if he were some other ninja. Although Renji was humble towards people and what they believed, he was not humble towards there threats. "Of course I'm willing to use it. Bahahaha, you will see to what extent this sword can be used. My name is Renji Sakatura by the way. A pleasure to meet you."

As he brought his long, sharp blade to the ground, he began running, the tip of his blade bringing up dirt and grass as he began running. He ran at a speed that easily cleared the thirteen feet of distance between them, in a little over a second. As he ran to him, he sent a downward swing right at his torso, then spun around him and sent another one to his back. The speed he was moving at, forced his momentum to slide away from his opponent when he had finished the attack. He had attacked so quickly, that he didn't even know how or if his opponent had dodged.

"Of course I'm willing to use it. Bahahaha, you will see to what extent this sword can be used. My name is Renji Sakatura by the way. A pleasure to meet you." Renji said, before rushing at Metsuki.

“It seems he is a speedy fellow.” Metsuki thought as he saw Renji rush towards him, the blade ready for attack. Quickly making a handsign, a layer of earth spread across his body, slowing him down, but it would protecting him from the swords attacks. Renji came in with a shot to his torso, then without pause a spin and another shot to Metsuki’s back. His rock armor chipped slightly on both attacks, but held firm. Metsuki was sure that Renji hadn’t had enough time to make sure the attacks hit.

A chuckle escaped his lips as he swung his arm back and hit Renji in the chest, then with another movement he brought his foot across in a kick to the gut. “Renji, huh. A pleasure to meat you it is, the name is Metsuki and you best step up your game if you hope to beat me.”

Renji's sword was still vibrating from the defensive manuever that Metsuki had used. He noticed that he hadn't cut his opponent, nor had his opponent dodged, only 2 seconds after his attack was finished. As he was hit in the chest, he flew back with his jump, as well as the blow from his opponent. A kick thrown into mid-air had not hit Renji at all. Renji landed on his feet, in a crouched position, his hand grasping for a hault as he was still sliding backwards on his feet. As he came to a hault, he could only hear certain parts of the phrase, “Renji, huh. A pleasure to meat you it is, the name is Metsuki and you best step up your game if you hope to beat me.”

Not paying much close attention to the sentence, but hearing and remembering his name, he got back up onto his feet again. "Using Ninjutsu already.." Renji thought. "Perhaps, to get passed this earth shield of his, I'll have to use some ninjutsu as well." Renji gave a quick stare at his opponent. He was going for intimidating, but it always came off as a confused look to other people. Renji tightly grasped his sword with both hands, this time forming a strange sign around it. A few others performed, and he finished with a handseal, than his eyes widened at his opponent. Without warning, a large stream of oil and gasoline flew from his mouth, first surrounding his opponent, then aimed directly at his opponent.

Oil and gasoline was everywhere, and hopefully, all over his opponent as well.

"Clever" Metsuki said, as he realized what the liquid was that Renji had covered him with. "Gasoline, he must use fire techniques." he thought, "I wonder how much this armor could take if I lit it on fire." His choices limited, he figured the best thing to do would be to use the gasoline against Renji.

A plain in mind, he rushed towards Renji, aiming for a physical attack. When there was less than a three feet distance between them, he did something unexpected, performing a row of hand signs; he spit a small fireball out of his mouth. Instead of going forward, the fireball was attracted to the gasoline covering Metsuki’s earthen armor. Within a second, his entire body was covered in flames. With less than two feet between them, the giant human fireball prepared to tackle Renji.

Renji had not expected this. He could see instantly that his opponent knew what the liquid was. An extremely flammable substance. When he began running at Renji, Renji thought that he wanted to try to get into hand-to-hand combat, in order to avoid any fire based moves being projected at him. It made sense, and it was what Renji would have done in the situation. But then, something really unexpected happened. He lit himself on fire. Quickly, Renji thought of all the reasons he might do something like this. It was on his earth armor, so it couldn't have been harming him much. But also, when he lit himself on fire, that gasoline would be used up, so Renji couldn't use it to his advantage.

The man could also tackle him whilst on fire, adding more damage. He was an extremist, but a good thinker. What he didn't, and couldn't have known, however, was that this was his demise. Renji instantly knew what to do, and thought it to be sad that he had to end the battle this gruesomely. He performed a few hand-signs, then shouted "Fire-man!". This was his second time using the jutsu, for it was dangerous to use. He had used it only once, after his brother had taught him to utilize it. He then gave it a funny name.

Renji had now turned into.. well, fire. His hands and feet were still solid, but everything else was pure fire. He had performed this transformation as his opponent performed his tackle. Renji stood there, his hands ready. As his opponent went in for the tackle, the gasoline and fire from his earth armor made Renji react. In small, short explosions of fire, Renji grew larger and larger. He grew humongous, to the point where he was as tall and almost as wide as a medium-sized house. He had swallowed his opponent, or rather, his opponent had dived into the flames, unknowingly. Renji then grabbed him with the only solid part of his body. If he was not already dead, he would be within a few seconds.

Just before diving into the flames, Metsuki managed to secretly switch himself with a branch on the ground behind Renji. He felt like an idiot for falling for that. "What's rule number 1?"he scolded himself. "If you use jutsu, expect it to be used against you." He knew now to be more careful while fighting this kid. Now he was sure to keep is distance. Dispelling his earth armor, which was now, not much more than flakes of dust. He went to work on another jutsu.

Shaping his fingers into a row of handsigns he slammed both hands onto the ground. A clone composed of solid rose out of the ground and came to stand by Metsuki. A grin spread across Metsuki's face. This time, he wouldn't be caught of guard
